One Year On: Glasgow Protest at George Sq

Event Details

  • Date:

Protest is hosted by Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) Glasgow and SUTR Scotland.
Protest location is George Square, Glasgow, G2 1, United Kingdom. Start time is 11:30am
From the event Facebook page:

Without the global #BlackLivesMatter movement, Derek Chauvin would likely have never appeared in court, nevermind being found guilty of what blatantly was murder.
Structural racism and police violence remains and BLM gave us a glimpse of how we can fight it. There is an endless list of deaths in police custody in Britain, yet no British police officer has ever faced prosecution.
Sheku Bayoh’s family are still to obtain any sense of justice.
One year on from the murder of George Floyd, join this protest to say…
WE NEED ACTION NOW
#BlackLivesMatter
#SayTheirNames
#JusticeForShekuBayoh
#UKIsNotInnocent
#ScotlandIsNotInnocent
This is part of a national week of action and people will also be encouraged to #TakeTheKnee on 25 May, the actual anniversary of Floyd’s murder. Read more here: https://www.facebook.com/events/793514614705367
