The United Nations Association Edinburgh is proud to announce the launch of our first International Peace Conference addressing ‘Sustainable Peace: Rights, Reconciliation and Restoration’. The conference aims to combine the power of education, debate and creative multimedia to redefine the way we view dominant narratives of peace and conflict.

The conference will include prestigious keynote speakers such as Mr  Martin Polaine, the Head of Human Rights Criminal Justice at the London Centre of International Law and Sebastian Meyer, photojournalist and documentary filmmaker featured on media platforms from TIME to The Guardian.

For many, ‘peace’ is a word that resonates strongly but often remains conceptually abstract, the UNAE Conference encourages participants to navigate this complex term not only through verbal communication, but through the power of photography, film, and visual art. An exhibition space will be open for the duration of the weekend offering alternative visual narratives, complemented by film screenings of William Williamson’s The Silent Conversation and Amos Gitai’s Ana Arabia later in the evening.

£20 full price / £10 students / concessions.

Spaces are limited. Purchase your tickets as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment.

The Conference will take place in Edinburgh from Saturday 25 to Sunday 26 October 2014.  See the full programme here – UNAE Conference Programme 2014, register for the Conference here – https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/unae-peace-conference-tickets-13355423431 and read full details here – International Peace Conference Leaflet Final
