As is the case across many industries and organisations, the key roles in religious groups are often taken by men. For women, who want to become faith leaders, discrimination comes not only in the form of everyday sexism and prejudice. It can also be bolstered by theological interpretations.

How does gender affect the way one can serve their faith and community? With attitudes to women leaders varying greatly across traditions and cultures, what are the experiences of women who want to lead and break through those barriers? Is equal representation important for all faiths and practices?
