It’s no surprise that the Annual Sustainability Awards Celebration looks a little different this year. The event will incorporate a range of elements such as music, poetry, videos and live contributions that will provide an opportunity to share and celebrate experiences of implementing sustainability initiatives.
The Awards ceremony gives us a chance to celebrate and recognise the efforts of staff and students who have made a positive difference in the university community, in their local communities or globally in a socially responsible or sustainable way. Staff and students are welcome to come along to be inspired and to pick up some great tips for making your place of work or study more socially responsible and sustainable.
The celebration will feature a range of pre-recorded videos that will highlight some of the amazing work students and staff have undertaken in the past year. We’ll hear from The Principal, Professor Peter Mathieson as well as get an insider look into the local and global work of several student-led social enterprises.
We’ve got an excellent line-up of entertainment including music from the A Capella Society and a live poetry reading from the co-editor and writer of Eudaemonia Records and current MSc Literature and Modernity student, Katrine Hjulstad.
The event has a fantastic panel of University of Edinburgh student and staff members who will deliver presentations to uplift and inspire you including the Students’ Association Vice President Community Amanda Scully and the Director of Social Responsibly & Sustainability, Dave Gorman.
Award winners will be announced at various points throughout the celebration; we’ll be announcing winners from the Office, Lab, and Working from Home categories as well as a number of winners from the Changemaker Award category.
We look forward to celebrating the successes of students and staff and encourage you to learn more about the Sustainability Awards here:
Event takes place on Thursday, 1 April at 3pm BST.
