The rights of European Economic Area (EEA) migrants have been severely restricted over recent years leavings many without vital safety nets in times of crisis. Brexit may further threaten EEA nationals’ rights to live and work in the UK, even if they have lived in the UK for a long time. For housing providers, local authorities and 3rd sector organisations it is more important than ever to be able to offer EEA tenants and service users excellent advice at the earliest stage, to help prevent unnecessary poverty, rent arrears and evictions.
You will be briefed on fundamental issues of housing employment and welfare entitlements of EEA nationals and we will explore how your service users might prepare themselves to avoid possible threats of Brexit.
