Rage but Hope – Earth Ensemble

Event Details

Brand new play by award-winning writer Stephanie Martin: Seven interconnected, vibrant and diverse stories inspired by the Extinction Rebellion uprising.

Inspired by citizens’ assemblies, the Earth Ensemble is a new way of collaborating that puts XR’s aims into direct action. We are actors, writers, poets, musicians and more who came together after the London rebellion to create theatre that engages people directly and shines a light on the climate crisis.

This event is part of Extinction Rebellion’s (XR) Summerhall Residency, 25th July – 25th August 2019. A month of Visual art, installation, film, theatre, spoken word, poetry, live art, performance, workshops, talks and more – all engaging with XR’s core three demands and questioning how we respond to the global climate and ecological emergency.

XR’s demands are as follows:

  • That the government acts tells the truth on the climate and ecological emergency
  • that the government acts now to reduce biodiversity loss and commits to new zero carbon emissions by 2025
  • that the government creates a citizens assembly to oversee the changes
