Peacebuilding in Primary Schools Programme Coordinator

(PT 7hrs/wk) £23,067/yr pro rata 7 hrs/wk £12.64/hr +5% employer’s pension contribution

Peace & Justice (Scotland) seek a Coordinator to lead the delivery and development of both the teaching resources and the team of sessional worker Facilitators on our Peacebuilding in Primary Schools programme.

The PeaceBuilders programme consists of two components, Cooperative Games and Conflict Resolution, and Collaborative Classrooms. We have delivered the 8 week Cooperative Games course to 52 class groups in 25 schools. The course helps children in primary schools gain the skills required to establish positive relationships and address conflict constructively.

The new in development Collaborative Classrooms course builds on Cooperative Games. We provide teachers, staff and pupils with bespoke trainings in Nonviolent Communication, a Restorative Approach to Conflict Resolution, Circle Keeping and Peer Mediation while building toward a whole school approach. The post holder will lead on completing development and delivery of this part of the programme.

This is an open contract – initially for one year – extension subject to funding.

Due to COVID restrictions this role can be carried out remotely in the first instance through the post holder will need carry out some in person work in Central Scotland in the long term, probably starting from 2022.  

Note also that in the Person Specification has been updated since initial publication, with “Knowledge of NVC, Restorative Approach” etc. moved from Essential to Desirable.
