Abdul Bostani: The Future of Afghanistan

Event Details

Abdul BostaniUK troops have pulled out of Afghanistan after 13 years of occupation and war. The NATO ISAF mission is ending  at end of the year, but US “advisers” will stay on. Did the war on terrorism there accomplish anything? Is Afghanistan any closer to democracy, or freedom? What is the legacy of the war for the people who live there and what does life in the UK hold for Afghan refugees?

Abdul Bostani is a former asylum seeker and now UK citizen from Afghanistan. He is Chair of Glasgow Afghan United and a long time volunteer with Scottish Refugee Council.  Come hear about the situation in Afghanistan and join the conversation about its precarious future.

Glasgow Afghan United supports the Afghan community in Glasgow. Its aims include working to advance citizenship and the contribution of the Afghan community in Glasgow through promoting equality & diversity, active citizenship and assisting in removing barriers (e.g. language, discrimination and exclusion) of the Afghan community, to relieve poverty of members of the Afghan community and to promote racial harmony between local residents and the Afghan community.
