The Personal Politics of Climate Change: What Makes Us Care?

Event Details

Join the University of Edinburgh Chaplaincy for a workshop investigating how our personal politics – how we think, feel and interact with others – shape our understanding of and reaction to climate change.

Climate change is one of the most pressing issues facing the world today. Many of us understand how we can reduce our environmental impact, but we often differ widely in our reasons for doing so and the commitments we make.

A sense of right and wrong; a desire to conform to social norms; guilt: what parts of our own personal politics make us care (or not care) about climate change?

This evening workshop will give attendees the chance to hear from four different speakers on how our personal politics shape how we feel about climate change, and what we’re motivated to do about it.

University staff, students and members of the general public are welcome.

Doors will open at 5pm ahead of the event starting at 5.30pm. Refreshments will be provided
