Prisoners for Peace Day 2014

Event Details

For the second year running the Peace and Justice Centre will mark Prisoners for Peace Day with a letter writing session at the Centre, Saturday 6 December from 11am – 3pm, when we will write cards and letters to those imprisoned for actions for peace. Many are conscientious objectors, in gaol for refusing to join the military. Others have taken nonviolent actions to disrupt preparation for war. This day is a chance for you to demonstrate your support for them.

We invite you to come together with others in the P&J circle, or put aside some time on December 1st, or a day close to it, to express your solidarity. We will provide lists of names and addresses of Peace Prisoners and paper and pens. We ask you to pay for stamps. If you can’t make it along to the Centre on that day you can write letters at home. You can download the names and addresses of Peace prisoners here

Many groups organise events around Prisoners for Peace Day, such as vigils, street stalls and write-ins. I f you write letters at home please let us know by emailing: contact@peaceandjustice.org.uk or phoning 0131 229 0993.
