Banquet of the Beasts: Rebellious Animal Workshop led by Tim Cowen.

An interactive writing workshop that will help us all connect with the beastly side of our personalities. Together we will create a series of chants, slogans and sayings that will feed into Extinction Rebellions Banquet of the Beasts Tranformance event taking place on Wednesday 21st August.

Tim Cowen is a longstanding campaigner on environmental and social justice issues and active member of XR Scotland. Banquet of the Beasts, Tim’s debut novel, explores issues around GM food, the rise of food banks, the horrors of vivisection and the toxic legacy of Margaret Thatcher. At its heart, Banquet of the Beasts is both a tale of food and friendship and a passionate call for a different relationship between man and beast.

This event is part of Extinction Rebellion’s (XR) Summerhall Residency, 25th July – 25th August 2019. A month of visual art, installation, film, theatre, spoken word, poetry, live art, performance, workshops, talks and more – all engaging with XR’s core three demands and questioning how we respond to the global climate and ecological emergency.

XR’s demands are as follows: that the government tells the truth on the climate and ecological emergency, that the government acts now to reduce biodiversity loss and commits to net zero carbon emissions by 2025, and that the government creates a Citizens Assembly to oversee the changes.
