Hibakusha

Event Details

Hibakusha translates as “bomb-affected-people” and Hiroshima survivor Reiko Yamada & Midori Yamada will be visiting Peace Camp at approximately 3pm as part of the Hibakusha 2017 tour – the tour is timed to coincide with the UN negotiations for a global nuclear ban treaty which commence on 27/3/2017.

Born in Hiroshima in 1934, Reiko was only 10 years old when the U.S. bomb “Little Boy” devastated her city. Midori was born four years after the blast & shares the fear among second-generation survivors of ongoing genetic damage from the radiation.

Come along, support Peace Camp, protest the use of WMD and show your solidarity with the Hibakusha and all life on planet Earth.

“I looked up and saw the silver-shining B29 plane flying high in the blue sky, drawing a white arc with its vapor trail. ‘That’s pretty,’ I thought. The next moment I felt a white flash. As I began to rush for an air-raid shelter, the hot sand from the sandbox blew strong against my back and pushed me down on the ground…

…We call on you: No More Hiroshimas! No More Nagasakis! No More Hibakusha!” (Reiko Yamada)

Free Admission, Kids Friendly.
